Soul Sanctuary: Music for Challenging Times May 15 7-9 pm MDT [Live]
Join us for a musical love drenching by Jeannie Zandi and musicians Amitabhan, Leah Shoshanah, Sarah Nutting (of MaMuse), Steven Walters and Tatiana Speed.
Because love is the best medicine.
Welcome to the Soul Sanctuary!
Given that we cannot gather together in our communities at this time, I wanted to bring the balm of sacred music to you where you are weathering our collective storm. I've invited a handful of my favorite bards of the heart to bring their music right to your living room. (See below for more about the musicians.)
This event is a gift from our humanity to yours as we journey together through this global challenge. A special thanks to these musicians for so generously dedicating their time to bring you this sweetness. Please consider checking them out on Youtube.
Space is limited for this live event. No recording will be made available.
We'll start promptly at 7 pm mdt.
Grab your housemates (or cat or teddy or even an invisible friend will do), make some snacks, test your Zoom connection and settle in for an evening of holy yum.
And do take good care of yourself--body, mind, heart and spirit.
Love,
Jeannie
The Evening's Lovelies
Jeannie Zandi
Jeannie Zandi is the director of Living as Love, a nonprofit organization dedicated to seeding a culture of the Heart on the planet, inspiring, teaching and supporting people to live from their essence as Love. A year before the birth of her daughter, Jeannie was plunged into a dark night of the soul that culminated in a radical shift of consciousness. She is known for her fearless clarity, tender mercy toward humanness, and a juicy, poetic and often humorous style that draws from Advaita Vedanta, Sufism, Christian mysticism and the ongoing revelation of fully engaged living.
Amitabhan
Ami has been playing guitar for quite a while. Sometimes he writes songs. A lot of his songs are about the peace that lives within.
Leah Shoshanah
Leah Shoshanah is a Chicago-based singer-songwriter, guitarist and Cantorial Soloist. Daughter to a classical musician and visual artist, her songs paint stories of home and family, with the fire of a traveler's heart and the desire to build a better world. In concert, she creates an experience that echoes the American Folk traditions of Joni Mitchell and Leonard Cohen; with music as moving poetry, woven with sing-a-longs and stories.
Leah has released two albums, which draw from folk, rock and jazz. Her most recent release, Brave Woman, is "a reminder that we all must carry on in the face of adversity and never stop creating art, speaking out, and living for ourselves" (medium.com). Her debut album, “A Child Like This” (2017), features an ensemble of nine musicians, her second release, "Stillness" (2018), is an intimate collection of solo Jazz and Brazilian guitar arrangements.
Sarah Nutting
I am a student of life, an apprentice of the Muses and a mischief maker in the realms of creativity and song crafting. If you really knew me, you'd know that I live for the metaphors that return life to the Mythic. What wants to inform my words, my song, my art in this moment?
I live in Sebastopol, California in a newly budding intentional community. I love being land based and also have been touring and making music for the last 12 years with my music partner Karisha Longaker. We make up a duo called MaMuse. Our work is inspirational, folk, groove, improvisational storytelling.. It's FUN and DELICIOUS and has felt like the calling of my lifetime (so far).
In addition to playing music, I love gardening, dancing, cooking, and dedicating my time to work around social justice and equality. I'm on the path of waking up, just like the rest of us.
Steven Walters
Steven Walters is a singer/songwriter who has been performing spiritually inspired music for over twenty years. In Satsangs with Gangaji, Adyashanti, and others, in concerts, workshop/intensives, and at Spirit festivals around the world, Steven has brought his deeply moving songs to a wide range of audiences.
Steven's balance of the sacred, the spontaneous, and the humorous, invites his audiences to experience a sense of divine "oneness."
Tatiana Speed
Singer/songwriter Tatiana Speed offers a space of beauty, honesty and compassion for our shared human experience. With intimacy and tenderness, Tatiana weaves our collective hopes, heartaches, stories and joys into a rich human tapestry that leads us deeper into the truth of who we are. Combining cathartic group singing, playfulness and a lighthearted joy with soft poetic ballads that offer mercy, forgiveness, peace and strength, Tatiana brings the softness and strength of the feminine to embrace our collective shadows while illuminating and welcoming us into the light.
