In these tumultuous times, many of us feel the call to bring our hearts to bear meaningfully to our world. Yet when we look at the scale of the challenges we face from political division to ecological crisis to systemic injustice, it's easy to feel overwhelmed, powerless, or unsure how to engage.
Spiritual activism naturally arises when we let the way our hearts are naturally moved flow into engaged action. It's not about forcing ourselves to become activists or adding another "should" to our spiritual path, nor about skipping over being to frantically do. Rather, it's about allowing our awakening to express itself through our unique gifts in service of life's flourishing, because love is what we are.
The same presence and love that liberates us personally can move through us to touch our communities and world. Rather than being a "good person" or taking the weight of the world onto our shoulders, we’ll become intimate with what moves us and put legs under that movement to express what’s natural in effective ways. When we're grounded in our deepest nature, we discover we can hold both the pain and possibility of these times with clear eyes and open hearts and take measured steps to feel we are participating in love on earth.
This series is for you if:
You sense there's more to spirituality than personal peace
You want to engage with world issues but feel overwhelmed or uncertain how
You're already active in social causes but seeking to ground and nourish your work in deeper truth
You're ready to discover how your awakening can serve the whole
Your heart feels called to express itself somehow
The deep work of meeting and uprooting our own conditioning isn't separate from dismantling systems of oppression–it's the foundation. As we face and heal the ways fear, separation, and power-over dynamics live in our own bodies and psyches, we naturally begin to interrupt these patterns in our relationships, communities, and institutions. Without shame or blame, we bring light to the unconscious beliefs and reactions that perpetuate suffering, both personally and collectively. When we're grounded in presence and love, when we inform ourselves about the dynamics behind the flowering of division, we can meet and digest pain, fear and confusion and allow our actions to arise from wisdom rather than reactivity.
Through this 4-week journey, we'll:
Explore the marriage of spiritual depth and engaged action
Learn how the movements of yin and yang support our action and wholeness
Uncover what blocks us from expressing our hearts in the world
Discover how to let love guide our response to world events
Build capacity to remain tender-hearted while facing difficult realities
Find our unique way of contributing that arises naturally from our essence
You may be surprised to discover that your particular way of showing up–arising from your unique gifts and circumstances–is exactly what's needed. The question isn't whether you can make a difference, but rather: how does love want to move through you in service of life's flourishing?
Let's explore together how to be spiritual activists who are both fierce and tender, both visionary and practical, both giving and self-supportive, both transcendent and fully engaged with the real world before us. The times we're in require nothing less than our full human hearts, awake and offered.
